The CEO of a British car company has spoken out about the high cost of health care and how the US has failed to improve.
Bose says that if it could get better rates and get the cost of care down, the company would be able to make the cost to run its operations cheaper.
“It’s very important that we’re doing better for patients,” Bose chief executive Andy Grove told CNN’s Piers Morgan on Monday.
“We’re very proud to be an American CEO.”
He said the US was making some progress, but was far behind the UK and other countries.
“We are very proud of the work we’re getting from the US, and we have the opportunity to work with the American Government,” he said.
“But the cost is high, and if we can do better, we could make it much, much cheaper.”
The Bose system is based on a smart device that allows the company to manage its entire health care system.
The device is attached to the back of the car, which makes it possible for doctors to monitor and treat patients remotely.
Bose’s chief executive said the company is “proud” to be in the US.
“If we could get it down to the US level of efficiency and cost, we would be making it very, very competitive,” Grove said.
He added that Bose would like to work closely with the US Department of Health and Human Services.
The company is the second-largest car manufacturer in the world, but has struggled in recent years to improve its healthcare system.
In 2012, the US House of Representatives voted to scrap the Affordable Care Act, a law that gave insurance companies greater flexibility to charge more for services like prescriptions and medical tests.
That same year, the American Medical Association warned the bill would put the health care industry in danger and lead to increased health care costs.
Grove said Bose had been lobbying the Trump administration for health care reforms.
“I’m not saying we’ve been a good leader, but we have been very successful in terms of innovation and making changes to our system,” he told Morgan.
“If we can get the US government to change their mind, we can have a big impact.”
