The Indian government has ordered a review of the aqua systems in most states that provide water to people and their pets.
The government said it would review the aquaculture industry in five states that have aquacultured fish stocks.
Aquaculture, a major industry in India, has been under pressure from environmental activists, who say it is being used to kill off the fish population, and farmers, who fear that it will cause land erosion.
It also has a big environmental impact, with pollution from its fish farms contributing to the release of large amounts of CO2 and other greenhouse gases into the atmosphere.
